Product Type: Conference Report
Release Date: September 2004

Digital Hollywood has held conferences for several years (www.digitalhollywood.com) with steadily growing attendance.  The September 2004 conference in Santa Monica had 1,800 attendees, up from 1,500 that attended last March.

Unlike some conferences, you don’t see too many slides and the exhibits are modest – the focus is on exchanging views on a number of issues that are transforming everyone’s business models.  These discussions take place in four parallel tracks (plus side conferences from companies like Intel), so one can only cover a fraction of the conference

The topics covered for these notes are:

  • ·        HDTV, VOD, DVR impact on Entertainment’s business models

  • ·        DRM issues and frustrations

  • ·        IP invasion: Broadband Movie Distribution and IPTV

  • ·        OCAP is just starting

  • ·        iTV crosses the Atlantic
